Like everything else about ASX, you’re well catered for when it comes to engines. 2WD and 4WD LS Sport models boast the 2.0L DOHC MIVEC petrol engine. It’ll whisk you up to highway speeds and make you smile at the pump.
D4 Sport models use the 1.8L DOHC MIVEC Intercooled Turbo Diesel - also powerful and very economical. Both engines will take a full crew or steep hill in their stride and make the open road a pleasure.

6-speed INVECS CVT
ASX range brings you Mitsubishi’s proven transmission options. The INVECS III CVT transmission features on 2WD and 4WD models.
CVT is a clever system that uses a belt instead of cogs, so you won’t even feel a gear change as you accelerate. It delivers perfectly smooth acceleration, even better economy and it’s so clever it can ‘learn’ your driving style for a more refined ride.
The 4WD LS Plus model makes driving even simpler with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shift gear change.
On the D4 Sport, you control the power with the silky smooth 6-speed manual. Very nice to drive and very economical.
ASX employs an integrated system of active and passive safety features; the result is a 5-star ANCAP safety rating – and one very safe vehicle.
Inside, there are driver and passenger airbags, side, curtain and driver’s knee airbag - seven in total. There are also three-point ELR seatbelts with pre-tensioners, which take up the slack in the belt and then release it gradually.
As you know, hazards have a habit of popping out. ASX lets you brake hard while you steer clear, thanks to ABS brakes, fitted as standard.
But just to be sure, ASX is also fitted with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, or EBD, which independently adjusts the braking at each wheel for maximum stopping power. Very comforting when the road surface is not uniform.
Next, there is Active Stability Control. ASC, as it’s known, helps you to maintain a safe line through a corner if traction is lost, by adjusting the power to the engine.
As well as the superb handling on-road, ASX 4WD models walk the walk off-road. On the dashboard, you’ll find the On Demand All Wheel Drive button, which lets you change driving modes, even while on the move. So whatever you’re driving on, you’ll maintain control.
