Challenger GLS in Redwood

Super Select 4WD

The hard working Challenger inherits all the 4WD-handling heritage of the long line of Mitsubishi rally champions. Most 4WD systems have either part-time 4WD or constant 4WD, but with Super Select 4WD now available in Challenger, you have the best of both worlds.

Four driving modes give you complete driving freedom: economical 2WD, full-time 4WD allowing you to drive in 4WD on any surface, and traditional 4WD high & low range modes to take on any off-road situation. The Super Select 4WD System also offers the benefit of on-the-fly shifts from 2WD to 4WD high range at speeds of up to 100km/h.

2H (2WD high range)

For regular road driving, this setting gives you power, solid handling and the best economy.

4H (full-time 4WD)

For bad weather, or bad roads, this setting gives you added grip and stability.

4HLC (4WD high range)

When you’re off-road, this setting distributes power to all four wheels equally.

4LLC (4WD low range locked centre differential)

Now it’s serious. This mode delivers every last drop of the tractor-like crawling power for which Challenger is famous. It gets you through the worst conditions and out of the deepest holes. It also sees a fair bit of use towing lesser vehicles out of trouble.

Active Traction Control (ATC)

This system responds immediately to loss of traction. By braking the wheel that’s slipping and sending power to the others, it means you keep the path you intended as you turn or negotiate tricky surfaces.

Multi-mode Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)

This system lets you steer away from danger while you brake hard. The EBD side of things senses the vehicle attitude and the surface you’re on and sends the optimal amount of brakeforce to each wheel. It’s the best way to avoid unexpected hazards.

Active Stability Control (ASC)

To combat over- or under-steer, this system senses when to apply brake force or engine power to each wheel independently. This keeps you on the best and safest line through a corner.
